Sculpted sole sneaker

This project focuses on creating a sneaker with a unique rubber sole using sculpting techniques and forming depth through shape.

Style

The space this design exists in is between a skate shoe, “dad” sneaker, and an exaggerated  silhouette a designer brand would utilize.

FORM & COLOR INSPIRATION

Influence for this design derives organic form in nature. Lines found in the peaks of a mountain covered in snow and concrete architectural elements inspired the curvilinear forms and line throughout the silhouette and details of this sneaker. This imagery also captures the presence of the design’s monochromatic upper with an additional color tone.

DETAIL & ON FOOT IMAGERY

The completed design features the marriage of the sculpted, blue rubber cast sole, gray suede upper, and blue tint laces. Outfits with earth tone colors can compliment the natural hues present in the design.

ADDITIONAL BRANDING EXERCISE

Further exploration allowed this design to be conceptualized for branding. Three brands of interest were Levi’s, Prada, and Supreme. In this exercise a snapshot of brand, color, and material inspiration was used to translate into the upper of the sneaker. Levi’s heritage translated into a denim material with a traditional top stitch. Prada’s iconic red stripe was applied to the side of the tip and uses mesh often found in their sneakers in addition to black leather. A supreme concept features pattern inspiration from an anorak jacket released in F/W 16’.
